Theatre radio-mic cues for LV1
Stage Access release notes
What changed in each version, and how to use the new features.
v2.0.0-beta.6
13 October 2026
LatestBeta: do not run a live show from it yet. Capture timecode on GO, and switch timecode off per cue.
Capture on GO
- New Capture on GO button on the Timecode tab (and Capture in the timecode window). Play the track and press GO on each moment: every GO fires the next cue as normal and stamps the running timecode on it.
- Works from any GO — the button, Space, the LV1 mute-group button or a Stream Deck. If no timecode is running, GO still fires but stamps nothing.
- While capturing, the GO button has a red ring, the TC light shows ● TC CAPTURE, and the timecode window shows which cue the next GO will stamp. Capture and Arm are never on together. Each stamp can be undone.
Timecode on/off per cue
- Each cue keeps its timecode with its own on/off switch, like a console snapshot list: the On column in the Timecode tab's list, or Fire on timecode in the cue's Extras. A cue that is off keeps its time but never fires on timecode, and its time is shown crossed out.
- The user manual covers both.
v2.0.0-beta.5
13 October 2026
Beta: do not run a live show from it yet. A separate timecode window.
Timecode window
- View › Timecode Window (Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+T), or Open in window on the Timecode tab, opens the timecode in its own window. Make it any size: the readout fills it, so it works full-screen on a second display or as a small strip.
- It shows the running time, lock and frame rate, whether timecode cues are armed, the next timecode cue with a countdown (amber in the last 5 seconds) and the live cue.
- Arm / Disarm and Keep on top buttons are in the window. It remembers its size, position and keep-on-top setting.
- Space and Backspace still do GO and BACK with the timecode window in front.
- The user manual has a new section on it.
v2.0.0-beta.4
13 October 2026
Beta: do not run a live show from it yet. Stream Deck buttons, LV1 scenes, QLab, timecode and a full user manual.
User manual
- A full PDF manual covers every feature, from first connection to backup swaps, QLab and timecode. Download it from the software page, or open it from Help › User Manual (PDF) in the app.
Stream Deck GO and BACK
- Console › Stream Deck shows a GO and a BACK web address. Add a Stream Deck Website action for each, with its background (GET request) option on. No plugin needed, and it works from another computer on the network.
LV1 scenes in cues
- Double-click a cue's new Extras cell to give it an LV1 scene. When the cue fires, the scene is recalled first, then Stage Access puts every radio back exactly as the cue says. A scene can change EQ, effects or anything else without opening, muting or re-linking a radio.
- BACK or Go To into a cue reloads the scene that cue sits in. Resync never recalls a scene.
- Keep radios makes a cue that changes no DCAs, for an FX on/off or a scene change in the middle of a number.
- Tested on eMotion LV1 v17: a scene that opens every channel lands in about half a second with only the cue's radios left open. LV1 shares its scene names after the first recall; until then, pick a scene by number.
Backup radio from the link mute
- Press the mute on an LV1 link strip and, if its radio has a backup (set in Cast), Stage Access swaps to the backup: the main radio is muted and taken off the link, the backup goes on at the same level, and the link stays open. Press it again to go back. A link with no backup radio mutes as normal.
- The link is renamed BU + name on the console, and Stage Access shows the swap in red in the grid, the live panel and the cue summary. LV1 does not let a remote change strip colours.
- Console › Backup radios turns it off. The simulator has a Press link mute button to rehearse it.
- A flashing Mic swapped to backup box on the live panel shows who is on their backup.
Choose which DCAs Stage Access controls
- Cast › DCAs Stage Access controls replaces the DCA count with a tick box for each of LV1's 16 links, so you can keep DCA 1–8 for the console and give Stage Access 9–16. All, 1–8 and 9–16 set the common splits in one click.
- Stage Access never names, links, clears or swaps backups on an unticked DCA. Cues that already have radios in an unticked DCA keep them in the show file, but they are not sent until it is ticked again.
- Older shows open with DCA 1 up to their old count ticked.
Fixed
- Recalling a scene on the console no longer fires GO or BACK. LV1 re-sends every mute-group button after a recall, and Stage Access read that as a press.
QLab sound effects
- Give a cue QLab cue numbers in its Extras, and turn QLab on in the Console tab. They start when the cue fires on GO, Go To or timecode, never on BACK. QLab can be on the same Mac or another computer on the network.
- Stage Access stays connected to QLab and checks it is allowed to control it. A QLab light in the top bar turns red when QLab refuses (OSC access is off in Workspace Settings › Network, which is common in workspaces from QLab 4) and amber when a cue number is missing or QLab does not answer.
- Tested with QLab 5.5 and eMotion LV1 v17: a GO recalls the LV1 scene and starts the QLab cue together, within about a tenth of a second.
- A QLab ON / OFF button on the live panel (or press Q) stops QLab cues playing while you step through the show in rehearsal. The cue's line says which sounds were skipped.
Learn fader & pan
- Press Learn fader & pan on the live panel (or L), then move a radio's fader or pan on LV1. The live cue remembers the new level and pan, and they come back every time the cue fires. Press it again to stop learning.
- Only radios in the live cue are learned. Stage Access ignores LV1 echoing its own moves, fades in progress and anything a scene recall changes. Moving one member of an ensemble moves the whole ensemble.
Timecode
- New Timecode tab: reads SMPTE timecode (LTC) from any audio input at 24, 25, 29.97 drop-frame or 30 fps, and finds the input channel carrying it.
- A checker shows the time, frame rate, input level, frames and breaks in the signal.
- Arm timecode cues and each cue fires as running timecode passes its time: scene, QLab and radios, like GO. Locates, jumps and stops fire nothing.
- Set selected cue to current timecode stamps a cue while the track plays. Built-in test timecode lets you try it without any audio.
v2.0.0-beta.3
11 October 2026
Beta: do not run a live show from it yet. Each radio can have its own fade and pan time in every cue.
Fade and pan time per radio
- The DCA dialog has Fade and Pan time boxes for each radio and ensemble in the cue. Leave them blank to use the show defaults on the Console tab.
- A radio already open moves to its new level and pan over its own times, up to 60 seconds.
- A radio coming in with a Fade time opens at −60 dB and fades up to its level. Without one, it opens straight at its level as before.
- On an ensemble, the times apply to every member. Reconnects and Resync always set levels straight away.
- Fades now send about 25 steps a second, so long fades stay smooth.
- The demo musical uses them: Old Jack fades in on cue 2, Maggie's solo builds on cue 6, and the cue 15 duet fades in.
v2.0.0-beta.2
11 October 2026
Beta: do not run a live show from it yet. Links work straight after connecting, with no Link Learn.
No more Link Learn
- Stage Access now checks link control itself each time it connects. The Links pill turns green on its own, and if a show was saved with the wrong link type it switches to the right one.
- Link Learn is still on the Console tab, but you only need it if the pill shows Links unconfirmed.
Safer connect
- LV1 ignores commands for a moment after a remote connects. Stage Access used to send its safety mutes, names and link clears during that moment, so some were lost: a few channels were not muted, and old links were left in place.
- Stage Access now waits until LV1 answers before sending anything. A GO pressed while it is connecting is sent as soon as LV1 is ready.
v2.0.0-beta.1
11 October 2026
Beta: do not run a live show from it yet. Stage Access is a radio-mic cue stack for theatre on Waves eMotion LV1, now for macOS and Windows.
Beta: rehearsal and testing only
- This is the first build of the new version. Use it to build shows, rehearse and test on your LV1, but keep your current workflow for live performances.
- Tested with eMotion LV1 v17.6. If something does not follow the cue, use Export log on the Log tab and send it to [email protected].
Cues drive the LV1
- Each cue sets which characters are on which of LV1's 16 links (DCAs). Stage Access assigns the channels over MyRemote and names each link after the character or group in it.
- Channel names, mutes, levels and pans follow the cue. Channels staying in the scene fade; channels leaving are muted first, and the cue's channels open last.
- GO and BACK from the on-screen buttons, Space and Backspace, LV1 mute-group buttons, or OSC over UDP from QLab, TouchOSC or Stream Deck.
Cast, ensembles and backups
- Name each radio mic's character, group them into ensembles (add a whole ensemble to a link in one go), and give principals a spare pack.
- Swap moves a character to their spare pack live. The spare takes the character's name, level, pan and links.
Connecting
- Finds LV1's MyRemote port automatically. Run it on the LV1 computer or on another Mac or PC on the same network.
- Connecting safety-mutes every show channel. If LV1 drops, Stage Access reconnects and re-sends the live cue.
Demo musical and simulator
- Opens with Harbour Lights, a 24-cue demo musical with 16 radio mics, ensembles, spare packs, pans and level offsets. File › Open Demo Musical reopens it.
- Rehearse without LV1 runs a stand-in console inside the app, so you can build and run a show with no LV1.
- Opens show files from the original Windows version of Stage Access.
